Stars turn out for Pink carpet premiere of 'This Is It'
Celebrities took over the Liberty Theatre last night as the premiere for Michael Jackson's "This Is It" saw musical festival performers mix with regular Bermudians.
Outside of the theatre, the stars arrived as early as 6.30 p.m. and walked the pink carpet.
Festival producer Rock Newman announced each celebrity as they arrived and posed for pictures.
A pink and blue bus carrying Quincy Jones and his friends arrived at the theatre but before they exited the vehicle, they were greeting by the sounds and dance of the Bermuda Gombeys.
The Gombey's danced for Mr. Jones and put on quite a show for him and the spectators who joined in the dance.
Out of the bus came Patti Austin, James Ingram, Siedah Garrett, and Premier Ewart Brown and his wife Wanda.
Dr. Brown wore a light pink jacket, a nod to Bermuda of course while Mrs. Brown wore a darker pink dress with a black scarf draped around it.
Boxer Antonio Tarver and his wife also hit the red carpet and posed for pictures for the media.
Guests to the theatre were invited to have a few nibbles from the carving station of roast beef and turkey along with passed canapés.
A bar was set up with complimentary beverages.
Moments before the movie began, a special nod to the Jackson Five took place with a performance of "I Want You Back".
The lead vocals were sung by Malcolm Hollis, a ten year old performer who will be taking the stage tonight at the music festival.
Malcolm has the rare gift of absolute or perfect pitch.
Once the movie started, fans and critics alike were treated to a rare glimpse into the life of a megastar. A glimpse that would have never been afforded in different circumstances.
