Two arrested after gun death are given Police bail
Two suspects arrested in connection with the murder of Fredrick Maybury were released on Police bail yesterday as officers continued their investigation.
Detectives on the scene at Woody's Sports Bar conducted interviews, seized evidence including CCTV footage, and went door-to-door gathering information on the shooting.
Mr. Maybury, a father of two, was shot at 12.35 a.m. on Monday as he left the Sandys bar. He was rushed to hospital, but the gunshots proved fatal.
He had told other Woody's customers that he was leaving to check on his 13-year-old son.
His death was the sixth fatal shooting on the Island this year.
A 44-year-old St. George's man and a 34-year-old Southampton man were arrested on Monday in connection with the shooting, but later released on Police bail.
Police are said to be looking into the possibility that the shooter or shooters used a boat to make their escape.
Customers at the bar said they were eager to give police information.
While they say the initial response from the public has been encouraging, they continued to call for anyone with information to come forward.
Any witnesses are asked to contact the Serious Crime Unit at 299-8106, or the confidential and independent Crime Stoppers Bermuda at 800-8477.
