Reuben Bean was a proud man at the ribbon cutting ceremony for his new Jiketsu Martial Arts, Fitness and Natural Healing Centre which officially opened at the old Berkeley Institute on Monday.

The centre will provide various activities including a tiny tots martial arts programme, youth martial arts classes, family safe programme, and adult karate classes.

Also available is mixed martial arts, fitness and body sculpt programmes, self-defence training as well as an alchemical healing centre. Bean, who got the centre up and running to help centralise all his Jiketsu progammes admitted it was a "dream come true".

"I can't say we really have any expectations as we never expected any of this when we first started teaching youth martial arts classes seven years ago," said Bean.

"Over the past two years Jiketsu has really expanded and we needed a place to centralise all of our programmes and treatments.

"The opportunity to create an authentic dojo and fitness/natural healing centre is a dream come true."
