Smith's Revs earn a point

Khano Smith came off the substitutes' bench to help New England Revolution earn a valuable point at Eastern Conference rivals DC United.

Smith entered proceedings on 64 minutes with the Revs trailing 2-1, before Kheli Dube grabbed an equaliser on 72 minutes.

The draw moved the Revs to top of the table with 20 points.

Adam Cristman had pulled one back on 59 minutes after Luciano Emilio (15 mins) and Fred (53 mins) had given United a two-goal lead.

The Revs were also indebted to 'keeper Matt Reiss for some fine saves to keep them in hunt during last Thursday's match.

The Revs coach Steve Nicol said: "As a football match, we got outplayed from start to finish. The second half, anyway, I have no complains.

"The effort and the commitment – every single thing – they couldn't have given anymore, which got us a point. (Matt Reis) made, what, five one-on-one saves to keep us in the game?"

The Revs play FC Dallas at 7.30 p.m. (Bermuda time) on Friday.
