Plisco to defend Match Play title

A relatively small field of 35 men and 15 women will tee off at Mid Ocean Club today in the 81st edition of the Bermuda Amateur Match Play Championships.

Today's medal round of the tournament will decide who will play in the Championship and other flights.

Defending men's champion, Eric Plisco out of the Squires Country Club in Pennsylvania, is back to defend his title and is exempt from the medal round, earning the number one seed when match play begins tomorrow.

Last year's women's champion, local player Tarique Walikraam is currently away at school and will not be defending her title.

In previous years the Championships have attracted as many as 80 players, several from overseas.
