Palace are the team to beat this season

I firmly believe our game against Crystal Palace Baltimore will be the match of the week within the USL-D2 fixture list.

I say that because Crystal Palace were one of the better teams we played against last season and they beat us heavily (8-1).

They were the strongest team during the second-half of the season last term and they only just missed on the play-offs and we believe they will be the team to beat this season.

I predict they will more than likely be in the top two teams in the division this time around.

Their good form has carried over into this season and they have won all three of their matches so far this campaign, without conceding a goal.

I feel both the Hogges and Palace share similarities and we both model our style play on English football.

Of course, they have links with Crystal Palace who were involved in the English Championship play-offs, but lost to my old club Bristol City.

Considering our similar styles it should make for a very interesting game.

They're a team that are really on form at the moment, but we're also starting to piece together some good performances this season and we're already showing encouraging signs of progress.

I think we have quite an attractive team with a good balance of players, who are starting to understand what it takes to make it at the higher level of football.

It should promise to be a very entertaining match and we hope to see some more faces at the National Sports Centre tomorrow night.

The support from the stands was fantastic during our second successive win last weekend against Pittsburgh Riverhounds.

It was a tremendous performance by the entire team and we're finally starting to understand what it takes to compete in this league.

But we must not get carried away with ourselves just because we have won a couple of games.

We can't start thinking we will get the required result just because we played well the previous week.

If you start thinking like that you will get beat - no doubt.

In that respect the mental side of the game is also very important.

I was extremely pleased for the players after our 2-1 win over Riverhounds.

The players showed that they are becoming more professional in their mindset.

They knew they had to perform at the same level as they did against Wilmington Hammerheads, who we beat 2-0, and I thought we more than deserved the victory.

Riverhounds scored late on and that made it a little nervous at the end of the match, but we always looked in control.

Palace will offer us a very different test than Riverhounds, who are new to the league, and it will be interesting to see how we perform.
