Dame Jennifer Smith is in Bangladesh today representing Bermuda during their Parliamentary elections.

The country has not held an election in seven years because two of their major political party leaders were jailed for corruption and fraud.

Dame Jennifer will be attending as a member of the Commonwealth Observer Group, which will be in Bangladesh until January 4 to observe the elections process.

According to Trinidad and Tobago Express: "The group will issue an Interim Statement after the election. In its Final Report, the group is free to propose to the authorities concerned recommendations for change on institutional, procedural and other matters which could assist in the holding of future elections."
