Guest worker dies in ladder fall
A Malaysian guest worker died after falling from a ladder at a construction site on Monday.
News of the accident was released by the Police yesterday.
According to a spokesman, officers attended the scene at a house in Appleby Lane at 12.50 p.m on Monday, along with the Government Health and Safety Officer.
"It appears that the victim, a 48 year old Malaysian man – a contract worker was working on a ladder inside a building on the premises when he fell approximately 15 feet to the ground," said the spokesman.
"He was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of serious chest and head injuries. However, he was subsequently pronounced dead by an on call physician at 8:40 p.m. on Monday."
The Police said they will not release further information until the victim's next of kin have been notified.
Yesterday evening, a number of construction workers continued to work outside the residence, which appears to be undergoing renovations.
A man who identified himself as the home owner declined to comment on the accident.
