Minister answers questions on Bermuda College student numbers

Bermuda College had 358 full-time students last fall and 911 part-time students.The numbers were revealed in Parliamentary Questions asked by Shadow Education Minister Grant Gibbons.He asked Education Minister El James to provide the total number of full-time students for the fall 2009 and spring 2010 semesters. He also asked how many students were enrolled in technical education and hospitality courses.

Bermuda College had 358 full-time students last fall and 911 part-time students.

The numbers were revealed in Parliamentary Questions asked by Shadow Education Minister Grant Gibbons.

He asked Education Minister El James to provide the total number of full-time students for the fall 2009 and spring 2010 semesters. He also asked how many students were enrolled in technical education and hospitality courses.

Dr. Gibbons also asked for the number of part-time students for the same terms and the number of full-time and part-time faculty members.

The college saw 286 full-time students and 880 part-time students enroll in courses this semester.

The favourite course for both part-time and full-time students was an associate's degree in business administration 46 full-time students enrolled in the programme in the fall and 43 in the spring.

A total of 109 part-time students enrolled in business in the fall and 90 in the spring.

Twenty students were enrolled in science and technology in the full-time programme in the fall compared to 19 in the spring.

The part-time programme saw 60 students in the fall and 58 the spring.

Mr. James said there were 45 full-time teachers at the Bermuda College in the fall and 34 part-time.
