Hotel last year is set to get underway.

The Development Applications Board approved the hotel's application earlier this month to build a new sea wall to protect the property from the ocean.

Stonington general manager Jean-Paul Horst said the remaining pieces of the old sea wall would be removed and a new, stronger wall designed to resist hurricanes would be put in their place.

"Otherwise this hotel might just float away in the next storm!'' he said.

The hotel also received permission to build changing facilities at the beach, but Mr. Horst said the hotel had not decided if it would pursue those plans.

The DAB has also approved an application made by the Mid Ocean Club to construct a maintenance and storage facility for the golf course.
