Pearman in final after birdie feast

Dwayne Pearman and Eric West played scintillating golf at Belmont Hills yesterday before Pearman emerged a four and three winner in the semi-finals of the BPGA Fritz Reiter Match Play Championships.

Pearman wil meet Scott Roy in today's 36-hole final after Scott defeated brother Steve, also four and three.

Birdies came thick and fast in the match between Pearman and West with the match swaying one way and then the other.

West lipped out a 25 foot eagle putt on the first and had to settle for a half and the match continued much the same way on the following holes.

Pearman eventually pulled away on the second nine, taking a four-up lead with a birdie at the 11th and eagle at the 12th.

He needed only a par at the 15th to end the match.

In the other semi, Scott took a one-up lead going into the second nine and birdies at the 12th and 13th allowed him to take control.

The final today begins at 9.00 a.m.
