Port Royal Golf Course has been ranked among the top 20 courses on the PGA Tour.

The home of the PGA Grand Slam was ranked 18th in a top-50 list compiled by Golfweek magazine, ahead of the likes of Torrey Pines, TPC Sawgrass and the PGA National (Champion) course in Palm Beach.

Not surprisingly Pebble Beach came top of the rankings, with the Old Course at St Andrews second and Whistling Straits third. Turnberry and Bethpage Black rounded out the top five.

Port Royal is sandwiched between 17th-placed Ritz-Carlton at Dove Mountain resort, which hosts the Accenture Match Play Championship, and the Trump International course in Puerto Rico which is ranked 19th.

Meanwhile, in a separate Golfweek list, Mid Ocean has been named as the second best course in the Caribbean and Mexico.

The Tucker's Town club just missed out on top spot to the Jack Nicklaus-designed Cap Cana course in the Dominican Republic. Third was the Querencia club in Mexico, fourth was the Casa de Campo (Teeth of the Dog) course in Dominican Republic, while the famous Royal Westmoreland course in Barbados rounds out the top five.

Port Royal, which is ranked 18th in the best PGA Tour courses, only merits 24th place on this list.
