Too little, too late, for Sims

WINTER GARDEN, Florida Michael Sims has missed out on a Nationwide Tour card despite signing off from final qualifying with a three-under par 68.

The score was enough to lift the Bermuda golfer into a tie for 93 in the rankings, well outside the top 75 where he needed to be.

Sims will now only recieve partial exemption to the Tour next season, unlike Joseph Bramlett who has earned a historic PGA Tour card by passing through the final stage of qualifying school, becoming only the second golfer of black heritage on tour. The other is Tiger Woods.

Bramlett shot a four-under 68 on the Crooked Cat Course at Orange County National yesterday to sneak inside the cutoff for a tour card next year.

PGA Tour veteran Billy Mayfair won the medal in qualifying, with William Grit second and Ben Martin tied for second.
