Records tumble in Billfish Blast
Que Mas set a host of new records as they stormed to victory in the sixth Annual Bermuda Billfish Blast tournament.
Skipper Travis Butters and his team hauled in five blue marlin in just one day, the most ever caught in a single day tournament in Bermuda, and their catch included a 700-lb monster.
The 2,500 points they amassed for the marlin were the most ever in the Blast, and with a white release on day two, the team's 2,700 points total was a new record for the tournament.
Que Mas picked up almost $200,000 in prize money for their impressive two days of fishing, and saw them become the first to win all three of the Bermuda Triple Crown events – they won the 2007 Sea Horse and the 2008 Big Game Classic.
Weez in the Keys released a crucial blue marlin at 4.16 p.m. on Day Two to secure second place with 1,200 points and $15,600 in cash winnings, whileClick Through held on to third with 1,000 points and $7,800 in cash winnings.
The other team celebrating at the end was the 2009 Triple Crown Champion, team Bree, who scored a blue marlin release and a white release to win the Day Two Release Jackpots worth $48,510.
