A 49-year-old Slovakian man has been fined $800 after admitting to stealing four energy drinks.

Frank Kiss yesterday appeared in Magistrates' Court on two counts of theft.

According to Crown counsel Takiyah Burgess, on June 20 a manager at Lindo's, in Warwick, noticed Kiss hiding two energy drinks in his helmet and leaving the store without paying for them.

Four days later, the manager saw Kiss hiding energy drinks in his helmet again, and stopped him before he could leave the premises.

The total value of the stolen drinks was $9.28.

In court, Kiss apologised for the theft, saying: "It was a stupid thing I did."

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner fined Kiss $400 for each of the two charges.
