Police investigating a burglary discovered a series of crimes in a Pembroke neighbourhood.

Two vehicles were broken into and a Government van stolen from Elizabeth Hills Road in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Officers visited the area in response to a reported burglary at a home, around 2.10 a.m.

According to the victim, he was disturbed by noises inside. While looking for the cause, he discovered an unknown man inside his home."The Pembroke resident confronted the intruder, who made good his escape on foot," said a Police spokesperson. "It [did not] appear anything was taken."

Police describe the suspect as a six-foot tall black male, weighing around 220 pounds.

At the time of the offence he was wearing a light coloured top.

The officers proceeded to check the neighbourhood and then found the pair of vehicles that had been broken into and learned a third vehicle had been stolen from outside a home.

Continued the spokesperson: "The complainant stated that sometime between 12.20 a.m. and 3.20 a.m. Thursday, an unknown culprit stole a white Airport Operations van, licensed L2427."

The vehicle is described as having 'Department of Airport Operations' written on both sides.

"It also appears sometime between 9.30 p.m. and 3 a.m., an unknown culprit or culprits gained entry into a car and van parked in the area.

"A quantity of tools was stolen from the van. It is unclear what, if anything, was stolen from the car."

Police said that they are not ruling out the possibility that the various crimes are linked.
