PARIS (Bloomberg) — Bermuda-based Dominion Petroleum Ltd., an oil and gas explorer with projects mainly in East Africa, signed a drilling rig contract for the Mihambia-1 well in Tanzania.

The contract was signed by unit Dominion Oil and Gas Ltd. and Caroil S.A.S., a subsidiary of Paris-based Etablissements Maurel & Prom SA, the company said yesterday in a statement distributed by the Regulatory News Service.

The rig is being used by Maurel to drill wells near the M'Kuranga discovery and will move to Mihambia-1 in November, the statement said. "The rig is anticipated to take up to 45 days to reach total depth of between 2,300 meters and 2,800 metres," (7,500 and 9,200 feet), the statement said.
