Bermuda takes Condé Nast's top regional honours
Bermuda has been named the best island in the Caribbean and Atlantic by readers of Condé Nast Traveler magazine.
And the Island's Reefs hotel has been voted the third best resort in the Atlantic in the same survey.
The results, based on an independent survey of 32,633 Condé Nast readers, were announced at a ceremony in New York on Wednesday.
William Griffith, director of the Department of Tourism, was there to pick up the award and said it provided further incentive to strive for excellence in rebuilding the tourism industry.
Premier and Tourism Minister Ewart Brown said yesterday: "The prestige of the Condé Nast poll is revered around the world so I am ecstatic that readers would honour Bermuda with such an esteemed recognition.
"Our team at (the Department of) Tourism, local hotel workers and operators, taxi drivers, everyone who puts their best foot forward for Bermuda, should be tremendously proud.
"That includes everyday Bermudians who do their part to roll out the warm hospitality that is always highly memorable for visitors.
"As I have said time and again: our people are our greatest asset. This Condé Nast award reaffirms it."
