The Department of Statistics yesterday released a revised guidance book, the Bermuda Standard Classification of Occupations booklet (BSCO-08). The BSCO-08 is one of the main documents issued to all employers and self-employed persons during the conduct of the Department's annual Employment Survey. It is a resource guide to assist employers in classifying jobs in the correct occupation category corresponding to the type of work carried out. The BSCO is based on the international standard for classifying occupations as set out by the International Labour Organisation (ILO). The public can download electronic copies of the booklet from www.statistics.gov.bm. All employers will receive a hard copy of BSCO-08 when the 2008 Employment Survey documents are mailed at the end of next month.
