Revamped cinemas set to reopen

Movie-goers can expect a whole new experience with two cinemas on opposite ends of the Island set to reopen over the next week following renovations carried out to improve audio and visual features.

The Neptune Theatre has been closed for the past two weeks and is set to open again tomorrow, while Southside Cinema, which has been shut since August 14, will reopen for business on September 4.

Raymond Dill, book keeper of The Neptune and Liberty Theatres, said an upgrade had been made to the projection and sound system at The Neptune Theatre, enabling the cinema to offer 3D films and become fully digital.

"The sound is incredible - it is surround sound now and a much higher quality visually as well," Mr. Dill said.

He said similar work had been completed on The Liberty Theatre, which opened again six weeks ago following the closure.

A message on the Southside Cinema box office said the cinema was closed between August 14 and September 3 and would reopen on September 4.
