Weather forces FEI Jumping Challenge to be postponed
The FEI World Jumping Challenge, which was set for the National Equestrian Centre at Vesey Street this past weekend, had to be postponed as the international judge could not fly in from the United States because of the severe weather.
Paul Pereech, a Bermuda FEI international judge and who is also one of the organisers of this year's competition, said: "The flights were cancelled out of the US on Friday so we could not get her here so the competition had to be postponed until a later date." The foreign judge is Wendy Chapot-Nunn.
Bermuda are in Category A which includes riders from Barbados, Dominican Republic, Haiti and Jamaica.
Two rounds of jumping had been scheduled for Saturday and Sunday and the Bermuda show jumpers were eager to duplicate the success of the riders at the recent FEI World Dressage Challenge when Bermuda came out on top ahead of Barbados, Trinidad, Jamaica and the Cayman Islands.
The World Jumping Challenge was created in 1979 to provide less experienced riders with an opportunity to compete on an international level without having to leave their own countries.
