Three injured by catamaran's broken mast

Three people were injured on catamaran, the Ana Luna, after its mast broke and fell on top of them.

Two of the people had minor injuries, while a third person needed medical treatment for injuries to their neck and back.

According to an officer at Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre, the vessel was in the narrow channel to the east of St. George's when the accident took place around 2.40 p.m. yesterday.

Seventeen of the 20 passengers on board were taken off the boat and the centre arranged for a pilot cutter to take the three injured people off.

Bermuda Yacht Services also went out to sea to help the vessel remove its mast and sail.
