Annual Schools’ Art Show on display until February 22

Artwork by Nahshon Hollis, Year 11, Saltus Grammar School

Hundreds of artworks from 36 local schools are currently on show at the 46th Bermuda Schools’ Annual Art Show. Each of the 23 primary, seven middle and six high schools have been allocated space for a certain number of boards to display their work, and they have made maximum use of their allocated space, making for a particularly vibrant display in a wide range of media. For the first time there are also textiles, fashion and mulit-media creations along with the more traditional two- and three-dimensional works.“This is one of my favourite shows and I look forward to it every year,” remarked Bermuda Society of Arts Gallery DirectorJulie Hastings-Smith. “The scope of creativity and talent shown in the work on display is amazing and truly is a credit to both students and art teachers alike.“It is also delightful to have a stream of children, teachers and parents visiting BSoA Galleries to see this exhibit.“Although it is not a competition, there is a People’s Choice Award for each school level so come on along and vote for the pieces which, in your opinion, are the best in show.”The exhibition at the Bermuda Society of Arts in the City Hall runs until February 22.
