Economic survival guide released by Capital G

How to cope with the current economic crisis is just one of the subjects covered in a guide launched by Capital G, Imagine 2009 and The Family Centre

The trio have joined forces to offer the new brochure called 'We Believe In Your Future - Social and Financial Advice for living successfully in the world today', which gives sound financial and lifestyle advice and tips on how to adjust your lifestyle to today's financial climate.

John Kephart, president and CEO of Capital G Bank and Trust Ltd., said: "As Bermuda's local bank, Capital G believes that every Bermudian should have the opportunity to survive and thrive during these economic times.

"Individuals and families may face economic challenges that may have a lesser impact if planning is put in place. This collaborative brochure can assist everyone in preparing."

Martha Dismont, executive director of The Family Centre, said: "We are delighted to be in partnership with Capital G in this opportunity to encourage families to think about new ways of managing resources and making the well being of children our priority as we face the future."

Inside the brochure, Bermuda's residents can find details on subjects ranging from 'Taking care of your family in uncertain economic times', 'How the way you live can impact the savings you realise tomorrow' to 'Financial services for continued growth and stability', as well as other helpful tips.

According to the guide, residents should be open to implementing into their lives useful and easy steps, such as taking lunch to work and school to save money, focusing on new opportunities as opposed to family challenges, setting up a standing order for a savings plan, knowing when to seek advice is wisdom, not a weakness, and using debit cards or cash for weekly expenditures to manage money.

Other advice includes maintaining good credit in the event of hard times and depositing loose change into the bank account to add to savings, strongly assessing your skills and knowing your options and alternatives.

The brochure is available in The Royal Gazette today, as well as in Lindo's and Market Place grocery stores. It can also be picked up from Capital G Bank and The Family Centre.
