Oprah plans nighttime show on her network

NEW YORK – Daytime superstar Oprah Winfrey will be moving to nighttime to host a show on her new cable channel. 'Oprah's Next Chapter', an hourlong show, will release Winfrey from the studio and her longtime talk-show format for conversations and travel around the world, the Oprah Winfrey Network announced yesterday. The show is expected to be a key ingredient of OWN, and guarantees Winfrey will regularly appear on the 24-hour network she'll be largely programming from behind the scenes. It will premiere in late 2011 after Winfrey ends her weekday syndicated talk show at the close of its 25th season. A joint venture of Winfrey's Harpo Inc. and Discovery Communications Inc., the network signs on January 1.

Tierney returning after breast cancer fight

NEW YORK – Maura Tierney is making a return to TV after dropping out of a series last summer as she battled breast cancer, the FX network said this week. Tierney, best known for her longtime role on the television drama 'ER', will resume her guest spot as the love interest of Denis Leary's firefighter character on the action drama 'Rescue Me', the cable network said. The 45-year-old actress is filming four episodes scheduled to air in 2011, the series' seventh and final season.
