National Gallery aims for national standard

Bermuda National Gallery (BNG) has submitted an application for certification by the Bermuda National Standards Committee.

According to a press release issued yesterday, the goal of certification is to ensure best practice as a charity with a view to following best museum practice, such as that championed by the American Association of Museums.

BNG chairman Gary Phillips said: "The importance of good governance, high operational standards and fiscal prudence cannot be overstated.

"The process in developing this application for certification was not without challenges but the trustees of the Bermuda National Gallery are committed to ensuring that this charitable organisation meets and maintains the highest possible standards in all its functions.

"I applaud and thank trustee Michael Spurling for his inspired and tenacious leadership on this project."
