A man was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving after his car allegedly hit a utility pole and caused a power outage yesterday.

Police said the Sandys resident was travelling east on Middle Road near the junction with White Hill Lane, when he lost control of his car around 1 a.m.

A Police spokesperson said: "The driver then left the scene prior to Police arrival. The car sustained extensive front end damage.

"The collision caused power failure in the immediate area.

"A Sandys parish man, believed to be the driver of the car at the time of the collision, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving in connection with this incident."

Burglaries in Warwick and Hamilton Parish

A laptop computer, video game system and jewellery were stolen from a Warwick home

Around 5.55 p.m. on Friday, Police attended the Princeton Lane home where the complainants said between 7.45 a.m. and 5.20 p.m. someone broke into their home while it was unoccupied and stole the laptop, an X-Box 360 and a quantity of jewellery.

On Saturday, Police also spoke with an Aubrey Road, Hamilton Parish resident who said that between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., someone broke into her home while it was unoccupied.

The culprit stole a quantity of cash and a gold bracelet.
