Plaza Cafe opens after renovation
The former Bistro 12 restaurant has reopened for business, after being closed for renovations for four weeks.
Husband and wife team Donte and Kelly Hunt took over the eatery - now known as Plaza Cafe - in Hamilton's Walker Arcade in August and have rebranded it as a place for diners to enjoy food and drink in the evenings, as well as for breakfast and lunch.
Plaza Cafe offers an all-day breakfast and specialises in martinis and gourmet desserts.
It will aim to provide a relaxed ambience for clients and will double up as a gallery, showcasing the work of local artists on a rotating basis.
"It's got the feel of something you might find in a major city, like New York, Toronto, or London," Mr. Hunt said, adding that the refurbishment was based on his wife's design.
The feedback in the few days since reopening had been positive, Mr. Hunt said, and there had been an influx of new customers.
"I've spent most of my career in the banking industry," Mr. Hunt said. "But I've always had the entrepreneurial itch and I've always loved good food and good service."
Plaza Cafe's opening hours are 6.30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and until 1 a.m. at weekends. It is also available for private parties.
