Diversity of sound – with a positive message
Bermuda Tri and their band Tri This will be the latest offering at tonight's Chewstick Griot Sessions.
Reggae artist Fyah Ras will be opening for the multi-talented group, whose performance will be filmed, recorded and streamed live on www.chewstick.com.
The vision of Bermuda Tri's founding members is to create positive music for a progressive audience.
The three founding members include Mainy Rankins, Mike Patton and Cryptik who met at one of Chewstick's Neo Griot Lounge sessions in the winter of 2005.
From there the three thought of the name, Bermuda Tri, with the idea that it has various meanings – the tri symbolising the Bermuda Triangle, that there were three original group members and the concept of them continuously trying to succeed.
Bermuda Tri quickly gathered momentum and steadily grew from a group of three to 15 members brought together from a variety of backgrounds, ages and races.
The group strives for diversity of sound in music coupled with a positive message for the future that they wish to expound to the youth of Bermuda.
Although mostly staying local throughout their career some of the members of the group have travelled overseas to perform as solo artists in Canada and the UK.
As a group they have released two albums locally, the first in 2006, entitled 'Revelation, Revolution' and the second released last year, called 'Follow Me'.
Doors open at 8 p.m. at the Chewstick Head Quarters on Court and Elliot Streets, in Hamilton. Tickets $25, are available at ChewHQ between 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. today. Tickets will be sold at the door and from Bermuda Tri members.
