Samba soccer school to host US skills camp
Charlie Cooke and Brett Mosen will be putting young footballers through their paces at the upcoming Coerver Camp, being hosted by the Bermuda's Brazilian Football School (BBFS).
The camp, scheduled to run from November 8 to 12 at BAA Field, will teach youngsters aged seven to 18 the Coerver coaching methods.
Dennis Brown, president of the BBFS, is delighted to have two well-respected coaches coming to the Island.
"The BBFS is about the enhancement of not just our participants but also about educating coaches of innovative methods to improve the confidence and abilities of every player no matter what level," said Brown.
"Our players and coaches will be getting some quality instructions and should really take advantage of the camp.
"We were introduced to Brett Mosen by Jon Beard about one year ago, since which Cal Blankendal has travelled to him in Ontario and here we are today with a first class camp on the horizon."
Cooke is the current Director of Coerver Coaching in the USA Region who made 360 appearances for Chelsea FC in London, England, from the late 1960s to the mid to late '70s.
Mosen is a Coerver Coaching Licensee from Ontario, Canada, and is only coach in the region to have coached at all levels within the United Soccer Leagues, namely A-League, Division II, PDL, W-League, Indoor and Super Y League.
There will also be five other Coerver coaches from overseas helping to run the camp
Coerver Coaching views the game not just as an 11 v 11 contest but as constantly changing sequences of play between two, three and sometimes four players.
Coerver coaching has been around for 25 years and one team that embraced the concept over the last 12 years was Germany and as a result their hard work has come to fruition with their team in the 2010 World Cup.
Players can sign up on the BBFS website www.bermudabfs.com.
