Every title is special, even when you've won five!

Champions: The victorious Baltimore Blast team celebrate their win

We are champions again as it would be told to many here in Baltimore. What a great season for the team, the franchise and the fans.

It was probably one of the closest games and a great one for many in the stands here in Baltimore to witness. Our win came with hard work, dedication and us working as a team all the way to the end.

If asked how I felt about the way we played I would tell you that the first half was not the greatest, but the second half showed why we have won five championships in the last seven years.

Winning five championships in the last seven years is an amazing accomplishment for any professional franchise and we are very proud of this achievement. For me it is four championships in six years.

You know it makes me proud and happy once again to come back to Bermuda with another championship. I have been privileged to have been a part of a great franchise, with a great group of players, cheerleaders, fans and staff here in Baltimore. It took all of us coming together to make winning possible.

You would think after winning championships it would become old or have less meaning. Well I want you to know that every championship I have won is special and has great meaning to me. Everyone of them has left a memory that will stay with me forever.

We have players this year that are winning for the first time, players who came from other clubs with an ambition to win their first one.

The players have battled all season to get that chance to raise the championship trophy and many have a passion and love for what they are doing. Winning this championship makes everyone's sacrifices worth while.

The joy of watching the players' faces when the last whistle had blown and the confetti started falling from the ceiling was priceless. Watching the fans going crazy with tears in their eyes, screaming players names out while chanting loudly "we are the champions" brought a great feeling of appreciation through all of us and made us realise what this means to so many.

It was amazing and will always be remembered; you just had to be there to really feel the emotion.

As I spend time absorbing the moment of being a champion, the last few days, and waiting for the championship rally so we can share a moment with fans and friends, I cannot stop thinking of how great it is going to be to have the Blast and the rest of the teams affiliated with the ISL.

I think of how the relationship will be great for players and how it would help generate players interest for the game.

Before I leave the column this week I want to thank all the fans and supporters from Baltimore and Bermuda.

I cannot express enough on how it makes me feel when you give your thoughts and words of thanks and encouragement. I hope that you understand that completing this task of winning a championship was helped by your support and your voices.

Until next time!
