Bascome looking for coaches to join him on trip to France

Andrew Bascome is to hand-pick two Bermuda coaches to join him on a ten-day visit to the French national football centre as part of an agreement between his football school and coaching guru Jacques Crevoisier.

The partnership will also see Crevoisier, a former Liverpool first team coach, provide hands-on support in developing a curriculum and coaching manual for Bascome's ambitious ABC Football School.

To kick off the agreement Crevoiser will accompany Bascome and the two selected coaches on a working tour of Clairfontaine, "the mecca" of French football, in September where they will be able to observe and pick the brains of top coaches from FC Sochuax and St. Etienne.

Crevoisier has worked with many of France's top players like Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira and was also part of the coaching staff of France's glorious 2000 European Championship and 1998 World Cup winning teams.

He is no stranger to Bermuda football having visited the Island on numerous occasions to conduct coaching clinics and seminars.

Robin Hood coach Bascome described Crevoisier an "inspiration" and believes his wealth of knowledge and experience will be a valuable resource for the ABC Football School.

"I have met and worked with Jacques Crevoisier during his prior visits to the Island, and I find him to be such an inspiration," he said.

"He and I share the same views on the priorities for developing football in Bermuda. His depth, knowledge and practical experience will be valuable resources to the future success of ABC Football School.

"With Jacque's input and guidance we will be able to leverage 'best of class' syllabus and coaching manuals, thereby allowing us to bring on line the most advanced academy, national and club coaching style and structure in a relatively short period of time."

Bascome said he was currently reviewing the local football scene for eligible candidates to join him in Clairfontaine.

"The additional two coaches who will be travelling with me must have demonstrated a keen and consistent interest in youth football and in the development of football in Bermuda and in particular, the coaching profession," he said.

"Based on the coaches I have seen to date, I'm confident that we will be able to make our selection very shortly."

The mission of ABC Football School's Selfless Football concept is to develop children and youth players between the ages of six to 18 years in all aspects of the game.
