Two women were threatened by a man wielding a gun after he forced his way into their home, Police said on Wednesday.

Police were called at noon on Tuesday to a home on Cottage Hill Lane, in Hamilton Parish.

A force spokesman said: "It appears that an unknown man brandishing a weapon attended the home, forced his way inside and accosted the two female occupants, a 35-year-old Hamilton Parish woman and her friend. The suspect then made good his escape."

A 42-year-old man was later arrested in connection with the incident. The women were not injured.
