Bermuda-registered private jet in India near-miss
A Bermuda-registered jet was involved in a near-miss at an Indian airport. .
The 'Challenger' took off from a runway at Mumbai International Airport at the same time as a private jet belonging to Pinnacle Air of India.
According to an official of the Director General of Civil Aviation, the two private jets took off simultaneously from Runway 27, causing a near-miss.
Airport sources said the two aircraft had similar call signs and Air Traffic Control (ATC) gave clearance for one of them but the other pilot mistook the order and also took off.
The 'Challenger' was said to be en-route to Delhi. It was not known how many passengers were aboard at the time.
Chris Pearce, Department of Civil Aviation acting director, said: "Any aircraft registered in Bermuda, there is a company attached to that in Bermuda. But we do not know which company owns this aircraft."
The incident happened at 11.30 a.m. on Saturday.
