Stonington plan set to be revealed

New manager Jean-Paul Horst said there were several different concepts being considered at present, but nothing would be revealed until the final plan had been approved by the Bermuda College board of governors.

Mr. Horst took over as general manager earlier this year and has been working on possible proposals for the renovation of the Paget property.

He took over from consultant Leon O'Brien, who was brought in to help turn around the fortunes of the property.

Mr. O'Brien's brief during his nine-month tenure was to prepare a five-year plan to make the hotel profitable again and to help it to raise standards.

The eventual plan is to revive Stonington, once again making it the central focus, along with Bermuda College, for hospitality training in Bermuda -- and a top class hotel in the bargain.
