Bermuda's Senior Education Officer for Student Services, Joeann Smith, told Hamilton Rotary Club yesterday that the learning support teachers help children with learning difficulties in regular pre-school and school classes.
They also help youngsters who are deaf, blind or have behavioural problems.
And Mrs. Smith said paraprofessionals were well-equipped to deal with any disruption caused by children with learning difficulties. "Complaints are very rare and it does not represent a major problem. Our paraprofessionals learn how to deal with it in their training.'' SPEAKING OUT -- Joeann Smith
