Forecasters have detected the depression 1,985 nautical miles southeast of Bermuda -- but projections show the storm beginning to turn north.

Forecasters have detected the depression 1,985 nautical miles southeast of Bermuda -- but projections show the storm beginning to turn north.
The depression is creating 30 knot winds, although these are expected to be whipped up to as much as 65 knots by the weekend, by which time it could be 1,000 nautical miles away.
At 6 p.m. yesterday, the storm was positioned at a latitude of 13.5 degrees north and a longitude of 36.7 degrees west.
