October 25 compared with the same week last year.

Immigration statistics released yesterday showed 7,382 visitors flew to Bermuda last week -- 190 more than the same week in 1991.

But airport visitor arrivals for the month were still down by 2.6 percent.

A total of 35,224 visitors arrived by air in the past four weeks -- 922 less than in the same period of 1991.

And the overall number of air visitors -- 327,848 -- for the year is down by 3.6 percent or 12,249 compared with January 1 to October 25 last year.

However, the Immigration Department noted that air arrivals "can only be a rough guide'' to the performance of the tourism industry.

It said visitors' total gross expenditure is probably the best measure of performance.
