Logic cuts its Internet rates
The Internet service provider (ISP) said in a release that it was cutting rates on all levels of its dial-up access.
Internet service in Bermuda is among the most expensive in the world and many have called for rates to come down. A leading proponent has been Telecommunications Minister Renee Webb. She has often advocated quality service at better prices.
Ms Webb applauded yesterday's move by Logic and said in the statement: "I am pleased to see that this Bermudian company is taking the initiative to provide the local market with quality service and good value at lower prices.'' Ms Webb also said Logic's decision would bode well in attracting business to the Island.
"The competitive advantage that it offers will help to keep Bermuda at the top of the list as a desirable offshore jurisdiction,'' she said.
Logic said that improvements in technology had allowed the reductions. "Logic Communications has decided to pass on to the consumer the benefits of technology through lower rates.'' Logic president Neil Speight said that the Island will continue to benefit from "emerging technology that offers businesses and residents cost-effective ways to communicate''.
The savings vary from $3 a month to $11 a month depending on the type of account customers hold.
The lower rates come into effect on April 1.
