Party initiatives came under fierce scrutiny at a Parliamentary seminar last week.

And another meeting will be held this Friday, followed by the PLP's November 1-3 delegates' conference.

The key dates on the party's calendar before the House of Assembly reconvenes on November 4 were announced yesterday by Opposition leader Mr. Frederick Wade.

He said last week's seminar was an "in-depth analysis of the PLP initiatives once the House reconvenes.'' This week's session would also focus on critical issues facing Bermuda.

"The Members of Parliament, senators and executive are all very excited about these sessions and are looking forward to resuming their work on behalf of the people of Bermuda in the House of Assembly with the opening of Parliament,'' said Mr. Wade.

He added the internal machinery of the PLP would also be examined at the delegates' conference.

"This is a valuable source of on-the-ground information. It is a free exchange of ideas, and views, which is always healthy.

"It is our life-blood as a political party that wants to remain viable, vibrant and in touch with its membership.'' Mr. Wade said the PLP's central committee and the various branch representatives looked forward to this "period of renewal.'' It was a chance to take a "reality check and to get input and direction from our membership as to those issues which they are primarily concerned about.'' "It is very akin to an anniversary celebration. In an anniversary celebration you renew your vows and your pledge to do right by those people whom you love.

"At our annual conference we renew our commitment to those who have placed their faith in us as their only real alternative to the UBP Government.''
