Young Bermudian appointed new Gov't e-commerce director
A bright young Bermudian has accepted the post of Government's new Director of E-commerce.
And Marisa Hall, 26, said she was persuaded to take on the challenge for the good of the Island.
The newly created post was advertised last October but the lengthy hiring process caused several interested applicants to go elsewhere. Desperate to have the position filled, Government was forced to re-advertise and was successful in luring Ms Hall from a very promising career with a local company.
One of the top graduates in the Master's degree programme at Babson College in Massachusetts, Ms Hall was quickly snapped up by Peter Durhager when he was putting together his e-commerce company, Promisant, last July.
Taken on as that company's business development manager Ms Hall has been totally immersed in e-commerce since her return home last June.
Head of the education branch of government's e-commerce advisory board, Ms Hall was instrumental in the establisment of the new e-commerce programme to be offered at the Bermuda College.
While a start date for Ms Hall is still being negotiated she will step down as a member of the e-commerce advisory board and assume responsibility for carrying out their decisions.
