Grouped among some half dozen black women who "have descended upon Hollywood'', Ms Swan's film "Mixing Nia'' is described as "a slick piece of moviemaking''.

Noting the film's six-figure cash infusion and a cast of more than 150, Essence writer Tara Roberts states: "The movie has sweet touches that many up-and-coming filmmakers can't afford -- like using a split screen to indicate that we're inside Nia's head, or shooting in 32 locations around New York City, or having an original music score and a music supervisor.'' "I think of Mixing Nia as a fun date movie for both white and black audiences,'' Ms Roberts continues. "There's a little something for everyone.'' The article also notes that Ms Swan -- daughter of former Premier Sir John Swan and Lady Jackie Swan -- was born and raised in Bermuda and recently completed New York University's graduate film school.
