Bermuda shares pushed the index up to an unprecedented high of 2,716.79.

Bank of Bermuda, one of the main shares on the index, reached the dizzy heights of $54.75. Just a year ago the stock stood at about $28.00.
59,000 stocks -- almost all the volume of the day's trading -- were Bank of Bermuda and worth over $3.2 million in sales.
Bank of Butterfield and Bermuda Commercial Bank did not trade and stayed at $31 and $9.25 respectively.
The only other change was in Devonshire Industries, which gained 40 cents or 5.7 percent to close at $7.40.
The index closed up 7.45 points or 0.27 percent on a volume of 66,300 worth $3,279,575.
