Russell cleared in hotel dispute
has been cleared of any wrongdoing in the wake of an incident at the hotel last month.
Sources told The Royal Gazette that Mr. Russell, a long-time trade unionist and political activist, had been placed on administrative leave but that no fault or blame was attached to him.
"It was felt that it was in everyone's best interests to allow time to pass between the hotel and Mr. Russell to allow certain issues to settle themselves,'' an insider said.
It is understood that Mr. Russell became embroiled in a dispute with a person dropping off passengers at the entrance to the hotel after the driver parked his car and refused to move it from an illegal parking space.
It is also understood that a labour relations' officer stepped in and mediated the dispute and the paid leave.
"In fairness to Mr. Russell, he has been a very busy man and this will give him some time to himself,'' the source said.
Mr. Russell is expected to return to work next month.
