Watson 3rd in Kung Fu classic

Championships in June, has placed third in the executive forms, black belt division of the Capital Classic which took place at the Conventional Centre in Washington DC over the weekend.

Watson had qualified to compete in the World Kung Fu Championships in Baltimore with four top four finishes in the New York event, but his participation wasn't endorsed by the Bermuda Martial Arts Society so he went to the Capital Classic instead. The World Championships were also held over the weekend.

"This is still one of the largest tournaments in America. A lot of the people who weren't competing in the World Championships in Baltimore were here,'' explained Watson, who was awarded a gold plaque for his third place finish.

The winner of the executive forms was Master Phuoc Phan from Wudang, China.

Competitors were mostly from the United States and Canada but the event also attracted participants from other countries. The tournament is promoted by well known Kung Fu Master Dennis Brown.

Watson had also been scheduled to compete in the weapons event but his weapons arrived late from New York and he was forced to scratch.
