Magistrates' court to answer nine counts of stealing and forgery.

Janeica Nicole Burch, stole a Bank of Bermuda ATM card in July from a man she knew, and later withdrew $390 which she spent on drugs.

She was also charged with stealing two bank of Bermuda cheques from another acquaintance, using them to obtain cash.

The nine charges related to stealing, making false documents, intent to defraud, and forging cheques.

Burch pleaded guilty to all of the charges and asked for a further 14 offences involving the same two men to be taken into consideration.

When Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner asked what she had to say in her defence, she asked for a suspended sentence and said it wouldn't happen again.

She said she had time to think about what she had done while incarcerated, and had been trying to get some help in the form of counselling, but said there was not much to offer at the Co-ed facility, and the officers said they would send her to Turning Point on her release.

In sentencing, Mr. Warner imposed a period of 12 months imprisonment on each count to run concurrently with her present term.
