Refs called up for World Cup
and Anthony Mouchette have been appointed by FIFA to officiate in the World Cup preliminary round match between Trinidad and Tobago and the Dominican Republic in Trinidad on April 2.
The trio are on the official FIFA referees' list and eligible to be called at short notice to officiate in matches in the CONCACAF region.
Their last assignment was on March 5 -- a World Cup qualifying round clash between Anguilla and Bahamas.
In announcing the appointments yesterday, chairman of Bermuda Referees' Association Gregory Grimes said he was delighted local officials were gaining experience overseas.
"Nothing beats this sort of international exposure,'' he said. "There is no doubt that it is of an immense benefit not only to those involved but in the long run to local soccer in general.
"It's not only major recognition for the three referees, but also recognition for the Island.''
