New Yorker throws down challenge
willing to let his triathletes do the talking for him with their performances in the Tri-Gatorade triathlon.
But now he wants to leave a more lasting impression on the local scene by entering himself in this year's competitions -- the individual event on Saturday and the team event the following day.
Willett is an accomplished performer, winning triathlons in New York City and along the east coast and competing in the swim around Manhattan and the Minnesota border to border triathlon in which canoeing is substituted for the swimming element.
He will be up against a number of top Bermuda challengers including 15-year-old Tyler Butterfield, perennial favourite Neil de ste Croix, Andrew Doble and Kevin Tucker in the individual event.
In the team event, the local trios of Jonathan Herring, Greg Hopkins and Tyler Butterfield and Shona Palmer, Tim Palmer and Andrew Doble should provide some stiff competition.
Local female favourite Melanie Claude can expect to be tested by NYU Tri-Club members Jamie Alford and Ann Snoeyenbos. But fellow Bermuda residents Clare Morrall, Heather Brand and Tanis Browning-Shelp will aslo be worth watching.
