Wedding guest wounded in fight

Police spokesperson Evelyn James Barnett said the man was at the reception when he became involved in an argument with another man around 9 p.m. on Sunday.

The argument escalated and the man reported that a drink was thrown in his face.

Mrs. James Barnett said a fight erupted, with both men falling and struggling on the ground. Wedding guests managed to separate the men.

A third man then pulled a knife, with a five- or six-inch blade, on the Smith's Parish man and swung at him.

Mrs. James Barnett said the knife struck the Smith's Parish man on the left forearm, causing a small abrasion and swelling to the top of his arm. Police investigations are continuing.

CHILD HURT IN ACCIDENT AC Child hurt in accident A three-year-old child was injured when he ran out in front of a cycle in St.

George's, Police said yesterday.

The rider of the cycle, a teenager, was also slightly injured in the accident on Sunday night.

Police spokesperson Evelyn James Barnett said Police were called to the scene of the accident on Cut Road, St. George's, just before 8 p.m. on Sunday.

A 19-year-old Pembroke cycle rider was passing the child, who was standing on the side of the road, when the child ran out in front of the cycle.

The child was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he was treated for abrasions to the left side of his head and released. The rider received abrasions to her right shoulder and left thumb.

SUNBATHER'S BAG STOLEN CRM Sunbather's bag stolen A sunbather relaxing on a South Shore beach had her shoulder bag snatched while she slept.

Police spokesperson Evelyn James Barnett said the 37-year-old Southampton woman was asleep on Horseshoe Bay Beach with an orange straw bag lying next to her on Friday at 3 p.m.

The woman was awakened by the sounds of shouting and saw a man chasing another man who had her bag.

The men were running towards the car park when the suspect dropped the woman's bag.

Mrs. James Barnett said the bag was recovered but the suspect fled in a car.

The man chasing the culprit was able to get the car licence number.

Later that evening the same car was destroyed in a fire outside the Ice Queen restaurant in Paget.

Inquiries revealed the car's owner was not involved with the unsuccessful bag snatching.

Mrs. James Barnett said a 22-year-old Warwick man was assisting Police with their inquiries. Anyone who witnessed the incident should contact Western CID at 234-5599.

APARTMENT BURGLED CRM Apartment burgled Police are investigating a weekend break-in at a hotel.

Police spokesperson Evelyn James Barnett said two visiting couples had their two-bedroom Surf Side Guest Apartment broken into while they slept.

The couples retired for the evening around 11.30 p.m. Saturday and left their wallets in various places in the living room.

About 9 a.m. on Sunday one of the men awoke and discovered his cash was missing from his wallet.

WALLET THEFT REPORTED CRM Wallet theft reported A 46-year-old Pembroke man had the contents of his wallet stolen while waiting to board a flight to Atlanta.

Police sad the man had checked through US Immigration around 2.30 p.m. on Sunday to catch the Delta flight to Atlanta.

The traveller said he realised around 6 p.m. -- after the flight was delayed -- that his wallet was no longer in his blazer.

Police said the man was unsure if the wallet was stolen or if it dropped out of his jacket and its contents were stolen.

An Airport cleaner discovered the wallet, less the cash and credit cards, in the men's washrooms around 7.30 p.m. Police investigations are continuing.
