Michael David Robson, 22, of Southampton, survived the attack in which the entire blade of a four inch knife was thrust into his left temple. The attack happened during a fracas outside the Ice Queen in Paget early in the morning of July 19.

Mr. Robson has been in intensive care until the weekend when he was moved to Perry Ward. A spokesperson for the hospital said his condition was "satisfactory.'' A man has denied attempted murder and is due to appear in court this week.

Meanwhile, a five-year-old boy is still in intensive care after nearly drowning in the sea off Long Point, Somerset, on Friday. His condition is said to be "satisfactory''.
